Spam Calls And SMS – Block Them With The Truecaller App

It’;s a thing. It’s an app. iOS and Android. It’s great. Not only does it identify spammers, scammers, and robocalls, you can configure your phone to use it to ignore these calls. You can report new ones yourself and add to their database. It’s cheap too, monthly, but enough value that I get it cheaper by paying yearly.

It’s also able to find a few extra details – the operator of their phone network, sometimes general location (town for example), email address, sometimes an alias.

Highly recommended, even the free version.

DON’T DO THIS: Don’t Call Friends Asking For Drugs (Or Anything Else Possibly Illegal), It Looks Suspicious

OK, maybe there’s a good reason you need a medication in an emergency. Legitiimate medication, it’s late, or the GP you’ve seen is an asshole who thinks giving you Valium to treat acute alcohol withdrawal (potentially fatal) will turn you into Skinny Pete or Badger (see picture.)

But for the love of god, don’t call up asking anybody for drugs. Don’t text them, snapchat them, it’s looks shady as hell and if I were a police officer, I’d be reading that as intent to supply (10 year maximum sentence in NSW.)

We have apps like Signal if we want to message or talk about things that might be taken the wrong way.
